Nonviolent Crisis Intervention - Autism Oct 26, 2010 - Oct 27, 2010
Tulare County participants only
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training is a 2-day workshop that focuses on maintaining the care, welfare, safety, and security of both student and staff. In addition to introducing the core concepts of NCI training, this workshop will help you to better understand autism spectrum disorders (ASD), highlight special considerations, adapt concepts, and explore a variety of strategies and interventions specifically designed for staff members who work in this field. This workshop also involves physical participation. Casual dress is appropriate and recommended.
Course Objectives: 1. To understand how the basic concepts of NCI can be applied to students with ASD. 2. To explore how the NCI model can be used to guide intervention strategies that fit the unique needs and learning styles of students with ASD. 3. To develop an understanding of ASD that helps staff members recognize why challending behaviors occur and how to prevent them from reoccuring. Click here for an information flyer in PDF format.
