Surrogate Parent Training

Surrogate Parent training will include:
1. A copy of the Procedural Safeguards notice and a brief explanation of its contents
2. An explanation of the confidentiality required in their role as a surrogate parent
3. A brief review of the IEP form and explanation of the IEP process, including identification, assessment, IEP development, and educational placement
4. Information about the role of a surrogate parent in the IEP meeting
5. Information about surrogate parent responsibilities, including meeting with the child, attending the IEP meeting, reviewing educational records, consenting to assessments and/or IEP contents, and consenting to release of student records when appropriate
