This workshop will provide information on the rights of special education students with disabilities pursuant to the Hughes Bill with special emphasis on the use and misuse of restraint and seclusion and other emergency interventions. Topics will include:
- Overview of procedures specific to behavior intervention
- Emergency behavioral interventions, including restraint and seclusion
- Protection & Advocacy, Inc report "Restraint & Seclusion in CA schools: A Failing Grade"
- Restraint and seclusion reduction initiatives in other settings
