Evidence-Based Practices for Autism Jul 29, 2009
Children with autism can learn…and there are effective methods for helping them develop functional skills and lead happy, more productive lives. Unfortunately, research has shown that many currently available interventions for autism are ineffective (or even harmful), while others have simply not been tested adequately.
Common sense suggests that it would be wise for parents and professionals to focus on interventions that can be reasonably calculated to produce lasting, meaningful benefits for children with autism.
This workshop will address:
- The importance of evidence-based practice in the treatment of autism
- Scientifically-based autism treatments vs. interventions with limited support
- Current research on a variety of complementary and alternative treatment approaches
- Using data to guide decisions about intervention and treatment
